Our history

Healdsburg High School was founded in 1888 and graduated its first class of nine students in 1891.  The high school program originally consisted of three years of study.  Miss Blake taught the First Year and the Intermediate.  Mr. Bull taught the Senior Year and acted as Principal.  There was only one course offered and all students were required to follow that program.

The school was housed with the upper grades of the Elementary School in a two story wood frame building in downtown Healdsburg.  The High School was later moved to Powell Court where it remained until moving to its present location in 1919.

Healdsburg High School has been accredited by the University of California since June of 1893 and became a four year high school in 1900.

First graduating class of 1891: Julius Fried, Carrie Belle Moulton, Margaret E. Powell, Olleva E. Dutton, Leonora V. Gates, Adelaide Stites, Edith M. Soules, Anna E. Amesbury, Junia R. Cook.
